I am a Lecturer in Politics and International Relations at Aston University's Department of Society and Politics. I have previously worked at the University of Lincoln and the University of Nottingham in various research and teaching roles.
I conduct interpretivist research on foreign and security policy, using a range of qualitative methods to understand how discourse and perceptions shape the way foreign policy actors behave. I am particularly interested in UK-Ukraine relations, and Political Myth and its place in foreing policy and diplomacy.
In addition to my research, I have previously taken part in interviews for BBC Radio and the Guardian and authored a number of blogs for academic organisations, such as UK in the Changing Europe. I have also provided research support for a project on covert influence commissioned by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs, delivered a talk at the UK Parliament on US-UK relations, and participated in a number of academic-practitioner roundtables on UK foreign policy.
My teaching practice centres around student-led discussions, simulations, and engagement. I have taught a range of modules on British Politics, International Relations, security, and research methods. I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
